Escape to your
Dream Yoga Retreat
In Hoi An, Vietnam

21st – 26th of May 2025, with Nomad Yoga

Relax, Unwind & Have Fun

Gift yourself this personalised yoga retreat, designed to help you slow down, settle the mind and gain momentum to ignite the adventurous spirit within you. Yoga classes are influenced by Hatha & Yin, a slow paced practice with lots of options for you to strengthen the body and explore movement in a way that is right for you, it allows time to indulge into the quality of stretches and observe the effects of movement on the body & mind.

To beat the heat, we will be practising Aqua Yoga, the buoyancy of water lessens strain on joints, offsets some of your body weight, and makes aqua yoga the ideal choice to strengthen the body and soothes stress. There are plenty of moments to pause and find stillness, to shift from thinking and doing to feeling and being, to give the mind time to reflect & become less active and allow for the heart to be heard again.

This retreat offers cultural health and well-being activities such as healthy cooking, mindfulness & spa therapies.

A Yoga retreat in Hoi An is the perfect way to escape from the norm and rediscover yourself.

It promises to bring you unique and memorable experiences that will wow you and be remembered for life. Regardless of the fast pace of life in Hoi An, you can always find peaceful and tranquil places in nature, that is why Hoi An is an ideal destination for you to take a deep breath and as the Vietnamese say ‘’enjoy’’.

Hoi An is an ideal destination for you to take a deep breath, and as the Vietnamese say ‘’enjoy’’.

Choose this retreat, choose relaxation, choose Vietnam, choose seclusion, luscious tropical gardens, choose coffee or green tea, even jasmine tea, choose mindfulness and fun, choose good health & good food, chocolate & wine, choose peaceful places to practise yoga, or even aqua yoga, choose yoga-wear and matching suitcases, choose motorbikes, or not, choose the beach, or the tranquil countryside, choose the rice fields or even riverside and the lotus flowers, choose the chaos of the town, choose a massage, choose shopping, choose yoga & like-minded people, choose your mental health, inward focus and relaxation.

Choose yourself, Choose life. Indulge, don’t apologise for choosing you, never apologise.

Thanks to Irvine Welsh for the inspiration from the Choose Life quote.

Relax, Unwind, Have fun, Unapologetically, Value yourself, Indulge, Wonder, Be curious...

Help me decide!

It can be overwhelming to choose the right retreat for you. I understand that and want help you make the right choice, even if it’s not this retreat. You may feel anxious to committing to something like this, your friends and family may think you are crazy, or that you are having some kind of crisis, I’m sure they are just envious, you’re not; you are listening to your heart, and following your dream.

Perhaps you have always wanted to travel to Asia but have a fear of planning it or going solo. I lived in Vietnam for 15 years and have extensive knowledge of the country; I can provide you with information & recommendations for other places to visit before or after the retreat.

If you are travelling alone or with friend/s this retreat can be the perfect fit, it offers shared accommodation as well as single occupancy. If you are travelling alone you may want time out to be alone, or you may want to connect with like-minded people, or even if you are travelling with friends you may (will) need alone time, this retreat offers the space & time to do both – connect & reflect during your yoga practise.

In every retreat I’ve hosted what amazes me is that every group that comes together is supposed to meet, the connections, friendships, companionships & laugher that happen are meant to be. You may feel conflicted; to take time out for yourself while in such a new and exciting place. Don’t worry, everything is optional, the retreat is scheduled to give you enough time for cultural tours, for your own exploration and time out for you.

What about the heat?

May can be warm, but it’s also one of the most perfect months of the year, with an approximate high of 33c and low of 25c, nice and comfortable. Some restaurants have A/C and you will never be without a fan, you will almost always be beside a fan.

If you are scared we will be doing headstands & wheels, we won’t, we will be focusing on breath work and a healing yoga practise, to allow the body time to heal and regenerate, our
practise will be slow and gentle offering you a yoga toolkit to take home with you on how to bring the practise into your daily life. Perfect for beginners or for those who just love to stretch &
relax.

If you are interested in learning headstands and wheel poses then this retreat may not be the right fit for you. Maybe you think we will be eating lettuce and frown upon alcohol, no, life is to be enjoyed, vegetarian, vegan & non vegetarian healthy food will be provided, and to balance life if you choose to enjoy a glass of wine or beer that is SO OK with me.

Preparing for the Trip

What to bring, Visa/Travel Insurance, and more.

What to Bring?

Most things can now be bought in Vietnam, so if you forget something, it’s likely we can find it or a close alternative.

You should bring the following:

Regarding shoes, I highly recommend something similar to what’s in the images below. as opposed to flip flops as they provide more support for the feet and unstable footpaths, and they are easy to dry if they get wet.

Some tailor shops, spas, peoples homes and some indoor hotel places you may be asked to remove your shoes, no faff, easy on and off. Also note black clothing tends to attract the heat and mosquitos.

All yoga equipment will be provided.

Comfy Footwear
Linen/Cotton Clothing
Sunscreen + Repellent

Visa + Travel Insurance Check

You may need a visa depending on your country of origin &/or on how long you are planning to stay. Please check and if your country is permitted time in the country without a visa, ensure
you leave within the allocated time to avoid a fine and hassle when leaving the airport. To participate in the yoga retreat you will be requested to provide proof of international travel
& medical insurance, and an emergency contact.

Side Note: when you arrive at a hotel, they will take your passport to be photocopied so they can declare you to the tourism police, this is a normal practise, you will get it back.

When to Arrive?

I’d strongly advise you to arrive a few days before to acclimatize and get over jetlag, if you would like to stay at An Villa before you can contact the reservation team to book.

Want to Organise it Yourself?
Here are some helpful tips

1. Da Nang is the closest airport to Hoi An, about a 40 minute drive away.

Flight suggestions: You could fly to Singapore, Bangkok or Kuala Lumpa first and then catch abudget flight to Da Nang.Your accommodation should be able to arrange a driver to pick you up at the airport and bring you to your place of stay (from Da Nang airport to Hoi An is about $15usd)

2. Ho Chi Minh City is in the South of Vietnam (HCMC or also still known as Saigon) Flights from London, Paris, Dublin fly directly there. You could explore the South for a few days, perhaps taking a Mekong River Tour from HCMC or travel out to Phu Quoc Island, or up to Quy Nhon before coming to Da Nang.

3. Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and still has all the old colonial buildings and lake, you could fly directly to Hanoi and from there take a trip to Halong Bay or Ninh Binh before coming to Hoi An.

4. You may want to consider flying into one end of the country, travelling down or up and flying out the other end. It’s a long thin country about 2000 miles long.

Yoga will help you relax & unwind, Hoi An will awaken & wow your senses.

Meet the
Retreat Nomad - Natalie

Allow me to share some of my Yoga & Vietnam experiences with you.

Hi, I’m Natalie, I’m really excited to be leading this yoga retreat!

While the focus of this retreat is yoga, there are lots hours between classes and I understand you are here for a bit of a vacation& cultural experience too, but don’t worry I have experience in yoga, hospitality & Vietnam.

As some of you may know I’m founder of Nomad Yoga NI (Northern Ireland), which actually started in Vietnam as Nomad Yoga Hoi An, a yoga studio & school. I’ll start from the beginning for those of you who don’t know me, long story short… I’m originally from Northern Ireland, and in 2005 I arrived in Vietnam as a volunteer with Volunteer Service Overseas (VSO) initially for 2 years on their securing livelihoods’ program, in Hue Tourism School, I fell in love with the country and ended up staying for 15 years. During most of the time I worked in 4 & 5 star resorts as a training manager & in spa management but at the end of 2014 I took a year out to study and went to Thailand, Nepal & India to study Massage, Yoga & Reiki, I also completed a nutrition diploma online.

Welcome to Hoi An

In 2016 I came back to Hoi An and established Nomad Yoga Hoi An, which in a short space of time become a globally respected yoga studio and teacher training centre.

As well as setting up Nomad Yoga Hoi An, I also consulted for 5 star resorts by co-creating the detox retreat packages, teaching yoga and conducting lifestyle & wellness coaching sessions for the guests. Fast forward 18 months, during this time I also adopted a Vietnamese child, had a baby, moved the studio to a bigger premises & my marriage ended, which brings us to July 2018, for another 20 months, I adjusted to being an independent new mother to 2 kids. (3 if you include Nomad!) In March 2020 I came home for a much needed 3 week break with the kids to visit my mum, in the first week of my visit my studio got closed down due to Covid, the next week the UK went into it’s first lockdown, and in the 3rd week Vietnam closed the boarders.

Finding myself back in Portavogie for the first time in 23 years I wondered what on earth I was going to do but Yoga has pathed the way for me again, I’ve taken on additional yoga studies

so I can make yoga more accessible and I’ve been building up yoga communities and co-hosting retreats in and around the Ards Peninsula.

So now you have a bit of history as to how this retreat has come about, I have a strong desire to share this beautiful place Hoi An and it’s people with you and at the same time offer you the
place to rediscover yourself, unwind and have fun.
I hope you will join me on this crazy Nomad journey of yoga, Nomadic because you never know where it may physically take you, and it’s also a nomadic journey inwards, calming down the noise in the head and leading you back to the heart, the core, your truth.
